Benign melanoma in a cat

Berry Haven Veterinary Group Surgical Case

Belle's owner discovered a large black colouration on her flank. It was none painful, flat and did not appear to have spread anywhere else.

We operated and removed the blackened piece of skin and submitted it for pathology. The result was a benign form of melanoma not often seen in pets.

This was a great relief to the owner as melanomas are normally very aggressive cancers.
